IMPORTANT If you would like your child to participate in End-of-Year testing (FSA/End-of-Course Exams) through Clay County, please contact the guidance counselor at your child's zoned school for dates and test registration information. Prior notification is required for Home School students to test. |
HOW TO HOME SCHOOL YOUR STUDENT:
1. Register your child with the Home Education Office a. If currently enrolled in a Clay County School, you must go to the school and withdraw your student. A student cannot be registered as a homeschool student if they have not been released from their current school b. Fill out, sign and return the Intent to Home School form to Home Education Office by email ([email protected]) fax, US Mail or in person. c. Parents have the freedom to use the curriculum of their choice to educate their child(ren.) Students are registered with the school district of residence in order to comply with Florida's compulsory school attendance requirements. 2. Maintain Portfolio
a. Parent/Guardians are required to maintain a portfolio of the student’s work for two years. (See portfolio example below) b. Portfolio includes the following i. A log of educational activites ii. Titles of reading materials iii. Samples of student’s work 3. Annual Evaluation
a. Send in your student’s annual evaluation every year on the anniversary date of home school registration - see form below as an example. If you began a home education program on May 1st, the annual evaluation will be due on May 1st of the following year, and each year you continue to home school. b. Please see #27 - 32 in FAQs above regarding acceptable evaluations. c. We will accept the evaluation via email or US mail, or you may fax or bring it to the Home Education Office (address above.) 4. Termination (should you decide to discontinue a home schooling program)
